Giving levels name your sustaining donors by how much they give each year: Booster, Melody Maker, Maestro, and so on. The level shows on the donor's record, in their reminder emails, and on a printable Recognition List you can use for a program, website or thank-you board.
Where: left menu, Settings → Recurring Gift Settings → Giving Levels. Availability: Foundation, Core and Pro plans, with Recurring Gifts.
Set up your levels
Enter each level's name and its minimum per year, then Save Settings. For example:
| Level | Minimum per year |
|---|---|
| Booster | $25 |
| Melody Maker | $50 |
| Harmony Helper | $100 |
| Crescendo Contributor | $250 |
| Maestro | $500 |
You only enter minimums. Each level runs up to the next level's minimum, and the top level has no ceiling, so there are never gaps or overlaps. In the example, $249 is a Harmony Helper and $250 is a Crescendo Contributor. Gifts below the lowest minimum ($24.99 here) have no level. They're still welcome, just not named.
Use Add Level for another row and the × button to remove one. Two levels can't share the same minimum.
How a donor's level is decided
The level is based on the donor's yearly amount. A $10-a-month recurring gift counts as $120 a year, which makes that donor a Harmony Helper in the example above. Levels are worked out on the fly, so changing your levels (or a donor's amount) updates everyone right away.
Hide a donor from recognition
Some donors prefer to give quietly. On their contact record, open the Donor tab, turn on Hide from recognition, and click Save. They stay a sustaining donor with reminders and receipts as usual, but they're left off the Recognition List and its export. The Contacts list and the Sustaining Donors page show a small hidden icon next to their name.
When you import a roster, a Hide From Recognition column set to Yes does the same thing.
The Recognition List
Reports → Recognition List shows your current sustaining donors (active or overdue) grouped by level, highest first, alphabetically within each level. Donors below the first level are listed last under "Friends". Click Print for a clean copy, or CSV for a spreadsheet of level, name and yearly amount.
Good to know
- Lapsed and cancelled donors don't appear on the Recognition List.
- The level shows as a tile on the contact's Recurring Gift tab and in the Level column on the Sustaining Donors page. You can filter that page by level.
- The name used is the contact's Payee Name, the same as on receipts, so a household reads "Neal & Jean Glawe".
