Everything a donor, member, or customer sees from GoodBooks can carry your organization's look and voice: the giving page, receipts, invoices, and every email. It's all on one page, Settings → Customization, organized into tabs.
Organization tab
Your logo (PNG, JPG, or SVG, up to 5 MB) appears on the giving page, emailed receipts, invoice PDFs, and the top of every email. Uploaded the wrong file? Remove deletes it and the pages go back to showing your organization's name; you can upload a new one any time. The Legal Name, EIN, phone, website, and mailing address here are what print on receipts and invoices; keep them matching your filings.
Brand tab
- Primary Color drives buttons, links, and accents on the giving page, invoices, and receipts. Secondary Color fills backgrounds.
- Tagline appears under your logo on the donation page and receipts.
Invoices tab
Settings that only affect invoices: an Invoice Accent color for header bars, Remittance Instructions printed under the total ("Make checks payable to…"), and a Footer / Thank-You Message on every invoice.
Email Templates tab
Sender Identity is how your email arrives:
- From Display Name: the sender name in the recipient's inbox.
- Reply-To Address: where replies go. Mail is sent from GoodBooks' servers, so this is the address that matters.
- Email Footer Text: your mailing address and contact line, appended to every outbound message.
Template Body Copy is the personal paragraph inserted into each kind of email above the details GoodBooks fills in automatically:
| Template | Sent when |
|---|---|
| Donation Receipt | A gift is receipted (online gifts receipt themselves). See Donation Receipts. |
| Invoice Email | An invoice is sent, including recurring and membership dues invoices. |
| Membership Renewal | A renewal reminder goes out. See How Membership Renewals Work. |
| Membership Welcome | A new member joins. |
| Account Statement | A customer statement is sent. |
Write these the way you'd write to one person. The amounts, dates, tax language, and pay links are added around your paragraph, so leave those out.
Donation Page tab
- Hero image (1200 × 400 pixels) across the top of the giving page. Remove takes it down and the giving page returns to its plain header.
- Page Intro Copy under the "Donate to [Your Organization]" heading, replacing the default "Your generosity makes a difference."
- Thank-You Message on the confirmation screen after a gift.
- Social Share Text used when someone shares your giving page.
The giving page itself, and turning on bank-account payments, are covered in Accepting Online Donations.
Good to know
- Changes take effect immediately; there's no publish step. Send yourself a test receipt or invoice after editing a template.
- Campaign landing pages have their own headline and hero image per campaign; see Campaign Landing Pages.
- The email footer and reply-to address are also used by the plain-text version of every email, so keep the footer plain.
